The Museum of Zoology of the University of Bologna is one of the largest and most important in Italy both regarding the exhibits surface and the collections. The Museum was founded in 1860 and was transferred in its present building in 1936.
The collections housed in the Museum date from XVI – XVIII century (Aldrovandi, Cospi, Marsigli, i.e. coming from the Natural History Museum of the Istituto delle Scienze) to recent.
